Compared to Obama and Palin the Independent candidate Bloomberg might seem like a very viable alternative -- and Bloomberg is worth well over $10 Billion and could spend a fortune on his presidential campaign...Imagine if you didn't have to raise ANY money and if you didn't have to deal with the lobbyists and powerful interests groups that regularly try to buy influence...hmmm....

<< So he is trying to lay claim on a chunk of voters in the middle-right/independent group, thinking most Democrats will have no choice but to vote for him. A very risky strategy.>>

I am not sure that is the strategy. Obama's behavior may have more to do with Obama's pesonality.

I found Frank Riche's talk today of Stockholm sydrome rather bold. But Frank Rich is very smart. And it would fit his profile in a way.

Obama remains an enigma because we cannot figure him out. We cannot bring together his campaign speeches and his administration.

In the end you may be right though. It just may be a strategy. Bill Maher said he looked beaten down. He looks beaten down to me. Losing one's base will do that.

He may decide not to run again.
