I have read the messages on Corel for the last month and have many times
been frustrated with the comments of Vanni. To date, he has been remarkably
accurate as to the stock performance even though his constant diatribe
is hard to take in large doses. There has also been a pattern by Vanni that
has developed and that people should be aware of. Vanni has sugested
ad nauseum that people should sue Cowpland or Corel and has quite quickly
denounced anyone who took a contrary position to him. He has on many
occasions counseled people to not purchase Corel or sell Corel and when
questioned, he stated that he was trying to help people and whats wrong
with that. Lately, anyone who has anything positive to say about Corel
is quickly set upon by Vanni. He may be right that this stock may continue
to go down but what are his motives. IMO Vanni has been shorting the stock
from Day 1 and continues to do so today. To breed discontent among investors
is perfect from an shorters perspective. Should Vanni be expelled for his comments;
probably not as I would be slow to take away free speech and there has
been little or no profanity in his comments but everyone should understand that
altruism does not exist in the stock market and on SI. People
say and do things for a purpose and Vanni's purpose is to profit from the
shorting of the stock, just has others in the past have
acted as a cheerleader for this stock.

I purchased Corel in mid August(so even if I thought your lawsuit had
merit Vanni, I could not participate), primarily attracted by the Java
oppurtunity. I only purchased 3500 shares so my purchase and views will
have little impact and frankly if I am right, I will make little money
going forward. I was also was influenced by the fact that the products that
Corel has are very functional. For example, a large percentage
of the lawfirms in North America use Wordperfect. I believe in general terms
that if a company has good products that there is oppurtunity for growth and
that to do that management must change. Corel's management
has dropped the ball and the promised good news in the past month has
not been forthcoming and in fact the Company was embarassed by the
performance at the "Gala", very unprofessional in my view. To date there has
been no indication of sales for the current quarter but I don't expect mush.
Based upon the Oct. 31 close, the market cap of this stock is approximately
$170 Million (U.S.). The company had sales in 1996 of $334 Million(U.S.) and
positive cash flow. In addition, the company appears to have one shareholder
who may want out (Novell) and as near as I can tell, no other insiders other
than Cowpland who have a significant interest. IMO, in the present circumstances
the company is or will soon be in play or funds will step in to change
the management. Cowpland may technically be able to block a takeover in
the sense that if he has greater than 10% of the shares, his interest
can not be automatically be bought out on a takeover. Rather than
making an offer, the first step may be to acquire a significant interst
and attempt to elect a new slate of directors and thereafter, if appropritate,
a bid would follow at some later date. If I am right, the shorters(including Vannia) will be
caught with their pants down but again just my opinion.
