Volunteer, A couple of things Stan's book points out is, don't short a stock unless it is below its 30 week moving average and the RS is going down relative to the market. I have not looked at AOL, DELL and YHOO to see if this is true for them. I looked at CAT this evening and it has broke down big time. RS is declining, trading below the 30 week moving average..everything is in place for a decline. Merrill Lynch is touting the stock and I went out the ML on-line and looked at their write up. They are CAT's investment banker so they are not exactly unbiased.

I admit I have shorted stocks that do not meet Stan's criteria sometimes one gets lucky and sometimes not. I always put a stop in where the chart looks like it could break out and keep moving the stop down as the stock goes down like he talks about.

I bought his book right after it came out and have used it as a reference book ever since.
