Collapses are made of "Lost Decades". Who will face the worse Lost Decade. US or Europe. Let's look to Japan. Japan is growing through a second comfortable 'Lost Decade'. It is said is because the debts are held by the Japanese citizens. Who will manage the coming Lost Decade better? US or Europe? US, because it has a lot of fat to shed. Europe is resource poor. No gas, no oil, no forestry, no minerals. No population. What will they sell to buy what they need?
