The drop was closer to 4%--maybe 3.8%--but still hardly qualifies as instant proof of the effect of any one variable.

Someone is going to get enormously rich by shorting long term U. S. treasuries, if the past is any guide. The process that confiscated a vast amount of personal wealth between 1960 and 1980 could occur much more rapidly now, maybe five years instead of 20. I quadrupled my TBT position on November 18; holdings from August and September are already up as much as 16.64%. But the entire position is still less than 4% of investable assets. Leverage brings it up to an effective 8%.

TBT could double sooner than some gold stocks. I may add more, but have learned to distrust these leveraged ETFs.
