but that is the problem... sleeping with gangsters...

They're almost ALL gangsters..

Even the Muslim Militant leadership, for the most part, is corrupt.. It's about power and money.. If they can use religious militancy, as the Saudis did, to come to power, they can seize control over the resources of the region and utilize them to further their power on a global scale.

Ayman Al-Zawahiri, #2 of Al Qaida, fully understands this. He wants the Saudi oil to finance his aspirations of Jihad.

So we're left to deal with secular gangsters. We have little choice but to do so, while at the same time attempting to create the legal and cultural framework that fosters societal and governmental legitimacy.

At the individual level few people, including muslims, like the idea that their country's resources are exploited for the benefit of the elite. And most Muslims don't like the militant image of the Jihadists. That's not how most of them were raised.. They were taught that Islam is a religion of peace.. (although contrary to much of what Muhammad actually spoke).

The Muslim Americans I worked in Iraq shared my views, for the most part. They couldn't believe that their religion had been "hi-jacked" by these Jihadists and they resented it.

We have to accomplish the same way of thinking throughout the Muslim world and restore some semblance of sanity.
