And yet it is amazing what morphine, alcohol, even judicious concoctions of Valerian, hops, etc. can do to disarrange perception. It has been almost 30 years now since a good friend of mine died who was as brilliant as brilliant comes. But he took 20+ Percodans a day plus alcohol--and whatever was available to deal with the pain he had. He claimed it was the divorce, the loss of a professional career of greatness, and so forth--but it wasn't any of those things.

The closest word I have heard to describe it is perhaps the word "anomie"--(sort of like how I envision the mythical "Wandering Jew" must feel or have felt).

Getting back...all of us can change how our perception percepts. So in some ways it would seem that people like our friend, the Rex. are simply on drugs without having to forge a prescription--LOL!

No wonder I envy you, Rex! :-)
