Foolish, indeed. White middle-class males could sit up and be proud at their 'big balls' and their great proud stand. they done just fine the last 30 years. they showed them bad repubs, they sure did. and went about their merry way. and they want to do it again? to show people how bad it can be? non-whites and non-middle-class and non-males already know that just fine, thanks.

hippie-punchers and punching-hippies would do us all a favor to get off the stage. they do women and people of color and the poor of all colors and genders no good at all. no wonder they talk about balls so much... they are in a pissing contest.

<<It seems that you just post on this board without reading what others are saying. That must be typical liberal behavior. They do not listen to the logic of the other side but think they are refuting the other side.>>

I don't read every post. I have no idea what you are talking about? I was responding specifically to tejek. And what you see as logic, I may see as misinformation or even illogical, especially about the 60's. Ask wharfy if I am wrong about the 60's. We were there together.

<<Somebody here made the same comment and received a response that the liberals may be exuberant in believing they ousted LBJ. But they were stupid to cut off the branch they were sitting on because after LBJ left the WH, the liberals could not take back the WH for almost 24 years. They just banished themselves to the wilderness. A foolish act isn't it?>>

That post is inherently incorrect and hindsight thinking. As I was there let me tell you exactly what we were thinking, but first, how were we to know the next 24 years we would be in the wilderness? We thought hippie thinking was the future-lol.

And if the dems had nominated Macarthy instead of screwing him out of the nomination, he would have won and we would be living in a whole different society now.

We thought we could do it and almost did. If Bobby Kennedy had lived we would have done it.

One other point regarding the above idea. What we were doing was not based on some sort of Machevillian thinking. What we were doing was fighting for justice based on principle.

Kids, both ours and the Vietnamese, were being killed and a country destroyed for no good reason at all. It was the ultimate stupid war. The kind of war people of conscience oppose for no other reason than basic human decency.

Sometimes one fights even if they know they will lose. Not everything in life or politics is tactical. In fact that is part of our present problem. We need more folks like Bernie Sanders who are men of conscinece. He is also dead right.

"A foolish act isn't it?"

Only cuz Nixon wasn't able to pass his health care bill, which was considerably to the left of Obama's.

"after LBJ left the WH, the liberals could not take back the WH for almost 24 years."

LBJ...'63-68
Nixon/Ford... '68-76
Carter... '76-'80

I'm good with calling Carter a moderate, but he was prolly more liberal than Clinton or Obama. Been a long time since we've had a liberal president.
