Tampa is mostly tourism, yes? I don't really know. Orlando for the tourism, for sure, and is there much business there?

Something about B'ham is the medical research. It is large there. One company just moved part of their people to there office in NC to cut down on travel... but there are many links like that between B'ham and the research triangle. For travel on rail... it's a lot less hassle than flying is now and biz people could be working on their laptops while they rode. And we (B'ham) have a lot of connections with Atlanta and I think could have more with a high speed rail.

I think it could even be a boon in terms of college students. live at home and hop the train 3 days a week for classes. my neice-in-law lives in CT and is attending NYU for grad school and rides the train. It's not high speed and makes for a very long day, but doing it 3 days a week is doable.

Flaring out of Atlanta makes all the sense in the world.

There isn't much news on the incoming Georgia gov, or ours here, but I think that's to our benefit... they aren't posturing for the national stage and actually are thinking about what to work on for their states. what a concept, aye?

oh, and our new guy made it clear the first thing he was going to do was call a special session and have ethics reform dealth with which has led Riley to have one now in session so as not to be outdone. Dude had a lot of years to do it... but hey whatever gets it done. our new guy talks scarily like an old-fashioned New England Republican. Never mentions god. didn't know he had a wife until a pic of him dancing with her on election night. never mentionns The Gay. or abortion. makes me a lil nervous.

oh, and our new guy has mentioned illegal immigration but when he does what he talks up is going after businesses who hire illegals and take jobs away from others. and when he talks taxes it is terms of tax breaks for businesses who create new jobs.

scary. very scary.
