Allen, though I don't use my Zips once a day like you, I have never had a clicking problem with any of them. I have however had plenty of floppies die on me, after using them far less than any one Zip disk. As we all know, any media will eventually fail. "clicking death" is just another silly attempt to discredit Zip by people who know better, but whose ulterior motives get the better of them.

Ugghhh!! Total Jaz failure. After 10 months of faithful service (bi-weekly; not daily), my primary Jaz backup croaked tonight. ME?! Mr. 'Jaz evangelist', Mr. 'I love IOM' -- I'm very careful about good care...it's never out of it's case unless copying. It's never left in a machine. It's always carefully stored in case; in bookshelf (6 feet away from the 21" monitor, of course). You try scrubbing -- you try soaking; and still you get.... I even tried some of my old 'failed SyQuest' tricks -- launch Norton, let it take control, then insert disk. Launch HDToolkit, re-scan SCSI buss. Nothing works. Don't care about IOM's fine return policy -- they could give me 10 'extra' disks but all I want is my DATA! The kicker is that I make redundant copies, but yesterday I needed to temporarily sacrifice those to make room for a short-term project I'm working on (for 2 days). Now I get this?! -MrB (venting! -- not even venting; frothing at the mouth!!)
