L: Not themselves, as in slavery

B: Where's the dividing line between a night and a lifetime, as in indentured servitude?

Indenture is not slavery. Say you contract to work for a period of time (presumably more than a night and less than a lifetime) in exchange for an education, that's not slavery. The military and small communities do that now to commit the services of doctors. The doctors aren't slaves. Slavery is about property rights, one person owning another. That's another construct entirely.

Comparing incest to chewing gum - way to go.

Hopefully, it communicated the point that just because something is legal doesn't mean that society finds it commendable.

But as for legal recognition of father-daughter marriages - Y or N?

I have trouble with a yes or no answer because I don't think that the government belongs in the marriage business, either. <g> But since it is, I don't see why there should be any criteria for a civil marriage contract different from those of any other contract. Religious marriages, OTOH, would likely be proscribed for incestuous couples.

Seems to me that this is a Big Brother question. Aren't you a limited-government guy?

As a practical matter, how many incestuous couples would press to marry given that most non-incestuous couples don't marry? And if they really wanted to marry, they could lie and do it anyway or just pretend to be married. This is a low volume, low impact matter.
