Bellvie:
I've been watching Apple for a few years but when it comes to investing I still consider myself a newbie. But I'm paying my tuition to the market and have been learning quite a bit in return.

As for understanding options, I have a book called Advanced Options Trading by Robert T. Daigler which gives a general overview of stock options and then goes more into the mathmatics model behind option pricing. I think it's a nice book. Even though I keep an eye on options, I probably won't start trading options until I get a bit better at this game.

There are several FAQ web pages on investment. I remember there was one that thought was very well written but I can't seem to find it. But here is another one I just found via Yahoo. It'll answer your question regarding short selling etc.
