Hey Paul, re: Service Providers (my ISP stinks)...since you probably know every major ISP in the world <GG>, could you advise on how to choose a good one?
If cost is not a big issue, I would highly recommend AT&T's Internet offering for small business (you would most likely need ISDN or better) or Sprintlink. These two services will provide you with the best reliability available on the net today if you can go with a dedicated circuit. ISDN is better than dialup, and they should offer DNS services for your domain, suppying you with IP addresses (they may require you use theirs).

I'm really getting irritated with mine (I hate my ISP)
Same here. I currently use MindSpring. It's really difficult to get reliable service with any of the providers using dial-up. It seems they are always upgrading or else the mail server is down or I just simply can't dial in locally. But this is not unique to mindspring. I hear it all the time with the others. I'm looking to go with Worldnet (Dial up) as a primary, and get an el-cheepo local service ($10 a month for year long contract) that sucks off of Sprint. One on-line trade executed that would have been missed due to lack of service will pay for the additional services for years. I do not have a domain, so it is easy for me to change.

So I'm expected to go blind into one (I hate my stupid ISP) that could be just as bad as the next. I don't really want to go bouncing around every ISP in the Bay Area (my idiot ISP really blows chunx), and I'll go both crazy and broke paying setups and domain transfer fees to every kid with a router who claims to be a service provider. I really hate my ISP, btw.

Where do you live? Send me an e-mail if you like.
