there's an awful lot of people that i respect that love microsoft. perhaps there isnt anyone left to buy the stock.
I just got a new computer and it comes with windows 7. we will see how it works.

WDC - you put it very nicely: "it doesn't have much moat/barrier to entry other than it's one of the last standing (albeit in shifting industry that requires constant execution)."

INTC - I agree, it's one of the truer Gorillas although AMD clouds the issue. ;) I still wonder why ROE is so lowish for a Gorilla. Maybe it's the issue of capital requirements to build the fabs, but then I look at TSM which is a generic foundry and they have higher ROE and higher margins than Gorilla INTC... Weird. But sure INTC still has a lot of moat with some fraying at the sides (AMD + ARM for things mobile).
