Existential freedom was not allowed by the church and society for all of mankinds history. Why the 60's existential revolution was so important.

And before you make too much fun of the idea, you might reflect on the fact that very few people really understand (can see) what it actually means. Even academics.

It is an abstract concept very few people understand. It is a matter of what scientists call: "knowledge directed perception" i.e. one cannot see, what one cannot understand.

I told both of my daughters it was very important to at least understand existentialism. You don't need to subscribe to it, just understand it, because once one does, it is much easier to be free of primitive social dogma.
