Actually, I was quoting Mill, but I also endorse what he said, so I guess that makes it at least two people's opinion.

BTW, dismissing that as "just an opinion" is a cop-out. You can't (or won't) offer a counter argument or justify a different view of the limits of authority, so you choose to dismiss it as nothing more than "an opinion."

Also a cop-out is your argument that what freedom means is something "the people in democracies have to figure out for themselves." By that philosophy, anything - and I mean ANYTHING - "the people in democracies" collectively choose to do cannot violate any principle of freedom. Freedom, then, is a word with no meaning.

Need I remind you that Hitler was democratically elected?
