Is old Tom loosing his 'touch'?
Petz: Say how come nothing happend after Tom Kurlak(sp?)of Merril Lynch made his pronoucements of lower growth for Intel the other day. The market seemed to have discounted him and the stock actaully went up over a point. Is old Tom loosing his touch????

Going nowhere with this. One last post from me on the subj. to you and you don't need to rsvp. What I was talking about with S390 was all bugs, not just illegal op codes that may be introduced. There are S-Unit or I-Unit hangs that will freeze a system as bad as you please. These are almost always fixable with microcode patches.

Intel has accessable microcode RAM which allows microcode patching in P2 and Pro, not in classic or MMX Pentium. My conjecture was wrong here and Intel won't be able to do a microcode patch for the affected chips.

Enough conjecture and now I'm waiting to hear what Intel has to say re what they're going to do.
