Joey they're all paying the top marginal rate on their earned income, unless they have massive charity contributions. The mistake you're making is combining unearned income, which has different treatment, with earned income that is subject to regular income tax.

Hint: look up the difference between adjustments FOR AGI and adjustments FROM AGI.
