James, Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't finish typing the sentence that I was thinking, I meant to ask if they were a competing manufacturer or a reseller for a competitor/manufacturer. Need to hire a proofreader... steve

James..... Not very professional...either...... This unit is not made by nor does it contain components from SONY or Identix. Yes, we've seen a similar looking product with a cheap plastic case and NO, it's not an FP500. Who would buy plastic when they could have metal? What kind of company offers cheap plastic in an industrial product? If they tried to cheap out the case where else are they trying to cut corners? This cost effective, reliable, quality unit was designed specifically for Jason Data Systems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I build homes....Everything is plastic....People want plastic. Look for the real company behind this product to be one of our old favorites who operate under the "name of the month" program. bg
