A philosphical application of 'exitential threat' as determined by existentialist philosophers concerns suicide. One major aspect of Existentialism is the search for meaning... yet, 'Existentialists' have concluded existence is ultimately and absurdly meaningless. When meaningfulness breaks down, or worry about meaningfulness being lost becomes a prominent concern, we all begin by asking 'is it worth it?' Being unable to deal the 'worth it' question can lead to despondency. So the existentialists answer is to push on to inspite of their 'absurdity' conclusion and find meaninfulness in continuing absurd activity. Personally, I reject the ball_o_wax.
