Analysis: Europe faces rising austerity protests in 2011

reuters.com

excerpt:

As austerity bites, Western Europe faces a near inevitable rise in protest and unrest in 2011 which is likely to hit markets and dampen weak governments' appetite for reform but not affect policies dramatically.

Translation: "Bitch, moan, piss, gripe, complain, and murder each other as much as you like. Your money is OURS. You ARE owned. Nothing will change that. Deal with it!"

...and they're right. People sporadically grumble a bit, but they ultimately report back to work, worker longer hours, and just take it.

I'm not sure what will rock the world enough to foment rebellion and cause a true uprising. History suggests that it will be a specific catalyst such as a lack of food and entertainment. But today, many would just roll over and die rather than fight back. -ng-
