>It is hard for me to respond without say: "are you kidding"?<

I am not kidding. I do not intend to elicit incredulity. I am not throwing snowballs; my curiosity is genuine.

I do not know how to draw a strong boundary between "benign" acquisitive instinct and the "malignant" variety, which is the classic definition of greed. The boundaries I have seen are arbitrary and won't withstand a NY minute in a hostile or courtroom-style environment.

The acquisitive instinct is hard-wired into each person. It's part of the survival skill set. I do not recognize an inherent or internal brake on acquisitiveness. That seems always imposed by one's morals and those of one's close community, most notably family and friends. It's all so subjective.

If you accept that, then it becomes clear that i am neither kidding nor heckling. I have difficulty discussing such issues until the terms are agreed upon.
