The reader of articles or surveys expects the source (or funder) to be identified. Methodology should be explained and questions about that methodology should be answered IF the goal is a better understanding of information. Sometimes "research" has other purposes.

You know I'm a MSFT investor just trying to stay informed. Questioning the source of information is normal. I am not so naive I don't think individual companies have their own agendas.

Research firms are something else. They should be judged by the integrity of their research, not by the size of their clients. Just my opinion.
