For one thing, being repelled by the word morality could to inhibit thinking about morality .... and good and evil, right and wrong, do exist.

Hayek wrote that religion was the conduit for wisdom painfully accumulated by untold generations of unwitting guinea pigs. Guttenberg may have started something to make that observation obsolete. Maybe not.

Ayn Rand had a lot good to say, but her objectivism was a load of crap. The successive waves of invading barbarians who arrive cleverly disguised as drizzling infants need restraints instilled early on. Religion, some more than others, have worked toward that purpose.

While I've missed services for near 3,000 Sundays, I'd sooner live where most had early conditioning and some fear of hellfire and brimstone.
