If you read that piece carefully, you can see that the comparison was not based on morality but on privacy. The assertion is that on one hand the two are different in that one is immoral and the other is not. On the other hand, they are alike in that they both occur in private.

From long experience on SI I have learned how difficult it is to convey that a comparison made on one element does not in any way infer a similarity between the two on any other element. Typically you find someone saying that the Nazis banned animal trapping and a bunch of folks acting like he had endorsed the holocaust. That is a logical fallacy. Dunno if those folks are really that cognitively deficient or if they're just overcome by a visceral reaction. Either way, it's illogical.
