Nope. I'd say US law should remain valid within the US borders and holds no water outside of it. If at some point in time Americans decide to change the laws to allow import of knock offs, then so be it. But just because we are not importing it, we cannot dictate to the rest of the world not to do the same.

Let me narrow the question for you further. How long should copyright be valid and who should decide that and where should that decision remain in effect?

A look at the history of copyright terms within the US should prove instructive.
