The body economic isn't all that different than the body physiologic. When somebody makes 4B, he causes monetary stasis.
When SCSO and MSFT sit on 65B, they cause monetary stasis, and buying another company in order to lay off a few more solely to make even more money is an even bigger clot. Taxes are great clotbusters, and the only side effect is to produce severe mental anguish in the recipient population.

Article: AORH guideline for prevention of venous stasis

Deep vein thromboembolisms and PE may be asymptomatic and difficult to detect. Patients with DVT may exhibit symptoms such as local tenderness or impaired drainage of blood vessels distal to the obstruction. (4) In addition to producing localized symptoms, DVT can break off and travel to the lungs, resulting in PE. The incidence of PE is greater when the DVT is close to the heart. (4) Studies indicate as many as 80% of orthopedic surgical patients may develop DVT. Without preventive treatment 4% to 10% of these patients will develop PE. (5) Deep venous thrombosis and subsequent PE remain the most common cause for emergency readmission and death following joint replacement surgery, even when preventive therapies are used. (6
