A sign from God perhaps?

Lunar eclipse, winter solstice to coincide

The rare, 72-minute lunar eclipse — when the sun, the Earth and the moon align — will begin in the early morning hours on Dec. 21 in North America, and should cast an amber glow on snowy landscapes, said NASA.

Why moon will appear red If you were to stand on the moon's surface looking up at the sky, you would see Earth hanging above, nightside down, and completely hiding the sun behind it.

Rather than being completely dark, the Earth's rim would appear as if it were on fire. Around its circumference, you would be seeing every sunrise and every sunset in the world at the same time.

This surrounding light will actually beam right into Earth's shadow, giving it a rusty glow.

From the Earth, the moon would appear as a giant red orb because the only sunlight visible is refracted through the Earth's atmosphere. Source: NASA

A world map of lunar eclipse visibility. Tuesday's lunar eclipse, expected to occur in the early hours of Tuesday morning, will fall on the same day as the winter solstice for the first time since AD 1554. (Fred Espenak, NASA)

The moon will pass through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow.

Tuesday marks the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere, and the winter solstice begins in the evening at 6:38 p.m. ET, which is 8:08 p.m. NT, 7:38 p.m. AT, 5:38 p.m. CT, 4:38 p.m. MT, and 3:38 p.m. PT.

Scientists said the last time a full lunar eclipse coincided with the winter solstice was in AD 1554. NASA forecasts that at 1:33 a.m. ET on Tuesday, "Earth's shadow will appear as a dark red bite at the edge of the lunar disk."

After roughly an hour, that "bite" will eventually grow to cover the whole moon. That stage, known as "totality," will probably start at 2:41 a.m. ET and last 72 minutes.

As for the best time to witness the cosmic event, NASA suggests being outside at 3:17a.m., "when the moon will be in deepest shadow, displaying the most fantastic shades of coppery red."

Although the arrival of the solstice cannot be seen, the moment describes the instant when the Earth's axial tilt is farthest away from the sun, resulting in the shortest day of the year as well as the longest night of the year.

Actions of climate change frauds betray words

HANOVER — I reject arguments by heads of state, celebrities and self-serving climate change scientists who don’t practice what they preach; since their actions are inconsistent with their stated beliefs, they prove themselves liars.

The entire 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Conference could easily have been teleconferenced worldwide, yet attendees chose to amass 1,200 fuel-guzzling limousines and nearly 150 aircraft to shuttle them to, from and around the conference. It’s clear these shameless con artists don’t believe manmade global warming exists; if they did, wouldn’t their actions validate their words? If they don’t believe it, why should I?

The following celebrities have ties to various environmental groups: Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey, Harrison Ford and John Travolta, all of whom combined own 12 jet planes, four propeller planes and one helicopter. Jennifer Aniston brushes her teeth while showering to save precious water, yet flies her hairdresser to Europe to fix her hair on the set of “Marley and Me.”

Hypocrite Sheryl Crow boasts of traveling in a bio-diesel bus yet has an entourage of gas-guzzling limousines trailing behind. Al Gore screams to an adoring, cheering audience, “Are you ready to change the way you live?” yet consumes more energy in one year than any one person in his brain-dead audience consumes in 10 years.

And President Obama? He flew a chef from St. Louis to the White House just to make him pizza!

Who are the fools here, the hypocritical, scheming, fraudster scientists who perpetrate this scam, or those who make the conscious decision to worship and support these frauds? If these self-styled experts don’t believe what they preach — and they clearly don’t — then why should I?

Two functioning brain cells are sufficient to make that judgment.

<<You ignore the hot places on earth? Why? I guess just to satisfy yourself that global warming is all just nonsense. Well, that flies in the face of reality:>>

What are you doing about your reality to help your interpretation of what is happening?

What is R value of your attic ?

What is R value of your basement, walls .. windows, doors ?

Do you have a hot water on demand water heater? Do you have a solar hot water heater? If not, is your old fashioned hot water heater triple insulated? Pipes insulated?

When was the last time you planted a tree? Is your property covered in trees?

Do you have 3 L flush toilets? ..Composting toilets?House of out??Have you poured millions of gallons of water on your lawns and if so , have you stopped,.. and bought a goat?

Do you have power bars to kill electrical appliances dead, when not in use?Do you use CF for lighting?

Is your roof painted white for mostly warm climate, dark for mostly cold climate?

Have you ripped up your paved blacktop driveway?

What do you drive? A gas guzzler? A Prius? All electric home made? Are you on the waiting list for Volt or Leaf?

Do you drive,... or ride a bike, situated so you walk to work?Do you have a garden, buy locally, are you vegan?

Do you have a solar system, wind turbine in your yard? Are you going solar with grid tie in?

Are you mostly hot air, not water?? or so worried about this controversy, that you have taken personal action, unlike the hollywood hucksters.

Answer the questions and see if you attain "number one granola."<g>

You ignore Obesity and population

Obesity has to be solved for any chance to balance global warming.

Population controls must be adopted world wide

to get back to 1 billion people on this planet to be sustainable.

Other than this carry on.
