This is the first post I've seen in some time regarding the potential split. Perhaps a novice question...but how badly would the price of the stock impact this consideration. When the split possiblity was being discussed earlier Dell was hovering in the high 90's. The discussions/ rumors seemed proportionate to the price of the stock and the upcoming report...any thoughts?

As for myself...I sold half of my position with a very handsome profit. I feel very comfortable now and I am willing to let the other half roll (c'mon Vegas...er DELL). If a split takes place and the MARKET shows renewed strength I will most likely "plunk" the other half back in.

Venkie, while I applaud your optimism (and I certainly hope you're right), you need to get your facts straight. As I posted yesterday, DELL is down 27% from its high, while CPQ is down 22%. This is not surprising, since DELL has a beta of 2.22 while CPQ has a beta of 1.46.

Regards,

Paul

"I feel very good about how Dell has been up in the down market. I really believe that the big money is almost ready to jump in for earnings and possible split in near future. I really think the botom is trying to move back to the 80 range. Dell is holing much stronger than cpq and most other big name techs."

What are you talking about? Dell is down 30% now from its top, and you are saying what? holding much stronger than who?
