B of A to spend $250 million for Y2K, says CEO David Coulter.

Near the end of a Reuters story on B of A and the internet, comes this:

>>Looking to other technological concerns within
BankAmerica, Coulter said BankAmerica is focusing a
lot of energy on updating its computer system for
the year 2000.

If I had to estimate what we're likely to spend
between now and 2000 to be fully year 2000
compliant, I'd say we're likely to spend $250 million
plus or minus but that has a very high variance,''
Coulter said.

It's a gigantic problem and I'm very concerned as I
travel around the world that not everyone is taking it
as seriously as they should, including financial
institutions, governments and corporations,'' he said.
