Yea, that's why I said interesting "stuff" out there. Lot's of measurment problems.

Still, quite plausible IMHO, especially when you consider the possible "field effects" observed in development, organismal behaviour, and other areas.

Not so sure about observable receptors... why do you think that has to be the case? For example the clearly non-random activity in cells with no observed such signals or signal receivers. Kind of obvious stuff actually.
