Russ sold out on gold circa 2005/2006, a tragic move.
He has been on a "crack up" boom premise for some time, and in so far as I gather, did not benefit by being correct but for timing and follow-on consequence. Bummer.


Thanks for your comments. I believe Russ exited the property market in 2003/2004. Yes I think you are correct he exited precious metals in 2006 and subsequently followed Michael Burke's strategy of using a small fraction of his capital buying puts and waiting for the market to collapse. In the fall of 2008 he struck home with the puts and bought back in fairly close to the bottom (late Feb/early March 2009) but exited later in the year. He is very risk averse... I find his strategy interesting but not one I emulate.

He's been consoling his early exit from the gold market by living in Brazil, Spain, and now Hawaii... so overall ... not a tragic existence. ;-)
