"The Republicans have always been the war mongers."

Uh, well, perhaps I can make a generalization, too, and say that Democrats "have always been war mongers". At least there is some evidence for that.

Not to defend war mongers of any stripe, but of Presidents and major military operations of the 20th and 21 Centuries, it looks like the war count is 5 for the Democrats and 4 for the Republicans.

If you take out the lesser wars of Granada, Panama and Serbia, you still get a somewhat similar ratio of 4 to 3.

Of course, if you only count from the invasion of Granada, it does look bad for Republicans, but does that qualify them for "always been war mongers"? I guess you can rationalize the statement any way you want.

By the way, without a Congressional Declaration of War, O*ama already has the power to send or withdraw troops wherever he wants. Congress doesn't matter very much (in practice), nor do Republicans, or Democrats. It is his understanding of the situation, and his judgment.

Interestingly, of the list below, only WWI and WWII were with acts of congress.

VP in AZ
(Progressive Libertarian)

WWI - Woodrow Wilson (D)
WWII - Franklin Roosevelt (D)
Korea- Harry Truman (D)
Vietnam - John Kennedy (D)
Granada - Ronald Regan (R)
Panama - G.H. Bush (R)
Gulf War - G.H. Bush (R)
Serbia - Bill Clinton (D)
Iraq - G.W. Bush (R)
Afghanistan - G.W. Bush (R)

Hypocrite GST is missing in action when koan posts his endless off-topic political crap.

Sobbing GST is only 'offended' when someone has the effrontery to disagree with such leftwing partisan garbage.

Sensitive GST is not the least 'offended' by koan's repetitive leftwing off-topic crap.

WHY IS THAT, GST?

Are you a PHONY, GST?

Look at this crap for starters and take it from there.

>>The Republicans have always been the war mongers. If you take a poll right now of who wants to stay in Afghanistan and who doesn't, you will see the Republicans, much more than the democrats want to stay.<<

irrelevant - they voted in war mongers.

was LBJ a democrat or a republican?

you actually make my point - the democratic establishment DOESN'T REPRESENT GRASS ROOT DEMOCRATS.

unfortunately, grass root democrats are as lame as grass root republicans and they let the establishment drag them around by the nose.

>>So why do you single out the dems? Below 57 dems and only 4 republicans penned a letter to leave afghanistan.<<

i didn't. BOTH parties are corrupt to the core.

>>I could list URL after URL showing it is the Republicans who want to stay in Aghanistan much more than the dems.

dawnexhibitions.com;

a democratic president, a democratic house and a democratic senate all vote for war.

republicans are irrelevant.

ELECTED DEMOCRATS WANT WAR!

democrats elected them, right?

>>Sixty-one members of the House of Representatives have signed a bipartisan letter to President Barack Obama opposing the presence of US troops in Afghanistan through 2014.<<

doesn't matter - democrats control both houses of congress and the white house, yet we out spend bush on wars!

>>"Mr. President, such an extension of US troops in Afghanistan is contrary to American public opinion and to the future of America," Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) wrote in the letter. "We believe that this Congress will not support efforts to extend our military operations in Afghanistan into 2014 and we call on you to reaffirm your commitment to begin a safe and rapid redeployment beginning in July 2011.”

The letter was cosigned by 57 Democrats and 4 Republicans.<<

democrats own it all. republicans are irrelevant. democrats are bought and paid for by those running the criminal banking war model on american society.
