What we know of their teachings is based on the writings of the religions and those go back to about the same period as Christianity's texts .... not centuries earlier as you maintained. I think if you prefer an eastern religion to Christianity, you should educate yourself about them (from actual practioners of the religion, not ersatz western newagey nonsense) and even consider converting to one. Pretending to be a Christian to please your wife is of no religious benefit. And you wouldn't feel compelled to post stuff hostile to your church online to "get back" at being coerced into something you find disagreeable. OTOH, I suppose maintaining family unity is a good thing too, if only for the sake of the children.
