Chinu, I work with a lot of conservatives, and no one defends Palin. She has become an embarrassment. The Tea party is also headed in that direction fast.

But the thesis of her nomination to be VP shows how close we came to having her as president. That should send chills up our spines. And it could happen again if the Republicans maintain their anti intellectual posture.

The entire Republican party is filled with anti intellectuals. They celebrate ignorance. Palin is the champion of the ignorant.

Imagine, John McCain could easily have won and he could also easily have died before his 4 years was up.

So how would we have dealt with Palin as president? I mean, really! She thinks like a silly mean ignorant high school girl.

One other thought that came to mind yesterday. This is something Marshall Mcluen would point out.

For a decade the right wing has sold us these boogymen terrorists. But who are these "terrorists" really.

They are mostly a bunch of very uneducated, very poor indoctrinated kids.

Just stupid kids.

Yes, they have to be stopped and contained, but one does not start wars over a bunch stupid kids.

This perception is true of so many things where we see reality through a cultural lense fed to us by whoever e.g. when we think of the war in Iraq to end terrorism. That was a nutso idea. But how many said that? Who, ever said that, blatantly. It was a blatantly nutso idea.

The Sunnie and Shia have been at war for over 1,000 years; and they will go right back to having a civil war when we leave and my bet is that it will be much worse than when we went in.

So all our money and lives lost will have been for nothing. Nothing at all.

When we get a couple of standard deviations from the mean that is where the real nut cases live.

But it is also where the geniuses live.

Well, on the left anyway. Not much on the far right-lol.

3 standard deviations above the mean is a lot different than 3 standard deviations below the mean.
