It's innovation, not respect for hierarchy or love of military glory, that makes for a successful society.

My world POV is based on the fact that the true history of the world is the history of innovation. I call Issac Newton,

"The Anchorpoint of History."

He found the Law of Gravity and the three laws of motion. These are the basis of Industrial Civilization, IMO. After he published "The Principia," the Industrial Revolution took off.
