Looks like support in here $102-103. In this area TXN is hitting the uptrend line in place since early 96'. If this is broken (which I doubt) support comes back in around $85. first call has earnings for 97-98 at $4.62 and $5.97 respectively. This gives us a 97 pe of 23@102 and 17 for 98' @ 102. I would consider this fair value considering their historical and projected growth rate of 18%

Good time to short TXN all the way to $85.

Kein, Tech-stock has no bottom. Normally, 40 to 50% from high when
the sector TANK, as we are in.

So

1. 142.5 * .60 (40%off) = 85.20

2. 142.5 * .50 = 71.25

Take one of the number you like. Either should make good money
in a year.

Kevin

All: Any idea when this $3.00 - $4.00 drop every day will be ended? Where is teh
bottom?TA? Thanks.

Looks like we are in another bear market for all tech stocks. Seems like we just pulled out of one earlier this year, for some tech stocks anyway, others bottomed out in mid '96. According to Kurlak, it's too late to sell but too early to buy, if you place any trust in him (I don't). Does that mean don't buy because he wants to get in first and then tell all to buy? If anyone could time these cycles correctly, they could make some money. The DRAM problem is the dark cloud over this stock, but even when TXN beat estimates, in spite of DRAM losses, the stock still went down. If TXN closes below 100, who knows how low it could go. Valuations could get as out of line on the low side as they were on the high side, in spite of long term fundamentals. Both INTC and TXN have corrected 25-30% from their highs and no one knows where the bottom is. Some stocks have been hit a lot worse. If TXN earns $4.25 in FY '97, a price of $85 in January '98 (not that I'm predicting that) would give it a PE of 20 on trailing earnings, and still a decent yearly return. IS this cheap? Only the market can say for sure.
