Re: "FDA approves marginal, from an efficacy standpoint a lot of drugs with serious and deadly side effects...." FDA is is very good example of a "captive regulator". Captive to the industry it supposedly 'regulates'. Over-matched, under-funded, administered in a silly and often political way. (Most of the bureaucrats there just put in a couple of years at the tiller, counting down the time until they can transition over to work for Big Pharma and become highly paid lobbyists of their former co-workers....)
