“Americans are flocking to buy and read ‘Atlas Shrugged’ because there are uncanny similarities between the plot-line of the book and the events of our day” said Yaron Brook, Executive Director at the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights. “Americans are rightfully concerned about the economic crisis and government’s increasing intervention and attempts to control the economy. Ayn Rand understood and identified the deeper causes of the crisis we’re facing, and she offered, in ‘Atlas Shrugged,’ a principled and practical solution consistent with American values."

Unlike many on this thread, I've never read Atlas Shrugged, so I don't really get the fascination. I know that Greenspan was a big fan, so I find the above quote a bit on the ironic side, as Greenspan and the Fed went to extreme lengths to control the economy, and his belief that market participants can control themselves, even to the extent of eliminating fraud, has been proven to be utter fantasy.

People always are looking for wisdom in a fortune cookie. soemthing they can do in 10 minutes betweeen watching football or dancing with the stars.

"The path to wisdom is steep and narrow, and dangerous as the Razors edge". Somerset Maugham

Wisdom takes a lifetime of study and the most fierce courage.

And Ironically, all one ends up with is some understanding of how foolish we all are.
