Can you try it on a different computer? I have two old ones that are the same model and everything else except one has a new hard drive in it.

I installed EaseUS ToDo Backup Home. The installation went smoothly. A re-boot was necessary. Backups seem easy, but take a tiny bit longer to complete than Acronis True Image. The ToDo image file is 75Mb larger. (Not an issue when dealing with gigabytes.) I went to restore. . . My first attempt failed. I was running Windows 7 from a Virtual Hard Disk. EasUs ToDo could not handle this configuration. (Acronis does!) I was NOT trying to restore a Virtual Hard Disk. I was trying to restore a Primary partition with Windows XP installed on it. (A far more typical use for imaging software.) I had no other choice but to install EaseUS ToDo Backup Home on my XP system. This volume contains both Windows XP and the files Windows 7 needs to boot to a Virtual Hard Disk. This volume's boot sector contains Windows 7 code. Running on XP, EaseUS ToDo Backup restored my system with no difficulty. Some observations. . . EaseUS ToDo Backup took 3 minutes 20 seconds to restore my XP volume. Acronis True Image Home does the same in 75 seconds. During the restoration, there were a few times I was left staring at a blank screen, or a screen that seemed to be doing nothing (while the disk activity indicator did nothing too.) If I were restoring my system to repair a disaster, I'd be upset and need some reassurance things were progressing normally. Surely an "I'm busy" screen would be easy to add. EaseUS ToDo Backup can be copied to bootable media. Both USB flash drives and CD/DVD are supported. I made a CD. It contained 44Mb. This CD booted my machine and ran. Again, there's little guidance for what's going on while the panic inducing blank screens appeared. I was disappointed by the CD. It's only option is restoration. (The Acronis True Image bootable CD supports both backup and restore.) Plans for making a CD to use on other systems evaporated. Overall, EaseUS ToDo Backup performs as claimed. But given Acronis True Image's more reassuring feedback, and fully functional CD, I prefer it. Western Digital and Seagate have free versions of Acronis True Image available for download.
