In the 1930s, Britain and others tried appeasement with Germany. It doesn't work when the megalomaniacs are Hell-bent on totalitarian authoritarianism. Islam is just another totalitarian ideology and appeasement is not working any better. All around Islamic states there is a ring of fire and death. They are invading other states with a view to conquest. Free speech include criticizing Islamic ideology. Publishing cartoons is free speech. Denigrating Islamic ideology is free speech. Denigrating any ideology is free speech. Anti-capitalists have free rein to pontificate about the glories of socialism and communism, hippiedom and anarchism. Anti-Christians are free to advocate for alpha male totalitarian dominance hierarchy kleptocratic head-hacking vindictiveness which Moslems do regularly. Christians are free to advocate pacifist subservience to any thuggish rulers. Mein Kampf and Nazis are banned in Germany but it would make much more sense to ban the Koran and Islamic Jihad. Inciting to kill is illegal in most countries. For some reason, Islamic incitement to kill, which is part of the ideology, gets a free pass. Such appeasement will lead to carnage. Unfortunately, free speech applies to some but not to others. My second cousin Ormond Burton spent years in prison for advocating in public against World War II. Free speech for pacifism was not allowed. But Moslems are allowed to advocate for murder. Mqurice
