Irony: Scotland wind turbines freeze, Scots import French nuclear power

There are so many ironies on so many levels here, the trifecta being that Scotland put up all these wind turbines to combat global warming. But instead the turbines froze from the bitter cold racking Europe and Scotland had to import nuclear power that the environmentalists have demonized. From Scotsman News: 'Green' Scotland relying on French nuclear power

SCOTLAND'S wind farms are unable to cope with the freezing weather conditions – grinding to a halt at a time when electricity demand is at a peak, forcing the country to rely on power generated by French nuclear plants.

Output from major wind farms fell to as low as 2.5 per cent of their potential generation capacity during the cold snap as power demand rose to close to the highest level yet recorded, new figures have revealed.

Meteorologists say extremely cold temperatures can occur only when there is little or no wind and icy pockets of air are trapped close to the ground, prompting accusations from anti- wind-farm campaigners that wind power cannot be relied on to meet Scotland's electricity needs in the depths of winter.

...The Scottish Government is opposed to nuclear power, insisting no nuclear plants will be built in Scotland once Hunterston B in Ayrshire and Torness in East Lothian are decommissioned, in 2016 and 2023 respectively.

That reminds me of a related pot earlier in 2010: A real no spin-zone: wind turbines in Minnesota frozen still, won't spin in cold weather

You know this whole global warming thing sure feels... COLD! As with all things liberal, the cure is more damaging than the perceived disease, one which many times doesn't even exist. Such is the case with climate alarmism. HT: moonbattery. Van Helsing comments: "Shivering in the dark so that pompous liberal blowhards can posture sanctimoniously — that's our future unless enviromoonbattery is turned back decisively."

Is the real problem America’s attitudes toward Muslims, or rather is the real problem Muslims’ attitude toward America?

That's why it will never be solved, until Muslims come in to the 21st Century.

Odd being how the left attacked Cosby for his comments in 2004. Maybe Couric didn't get the memo?

Katy Couric Says, ‘Maybe We Need a Muslim Version of ‘The Cosby Show’

I love the show "Modern Family".....clearly we need the "Modern Muslim Family". They could show how the gay couple with their adopted asian daughter is accepted into the family and community.

They could show funny skits where the voluptuous mom tries to keep her ample endowments in her burqa.

And they can show how the uncles and fathers react when the cute teenage daughter goes out on a date with a non-believer while wearing skimpy little outfits.

yup, Katy Couric is right. We do need to showcase the modern muslim family. It could be set in Dearborn Michigan....or Saudi Arabia...or Iran....
