Since we're recovering from the Little Ice Age, no, I don't find a slight warming trend from the 1800's on alarming. Furthermore, that the trend goes so far back should tell you its not primarily a product of humans burning fossil fuels since there wasn't much burning of fossil fuels then.

Now back to the 1950's and 1960's question - which is it?

The fact you can't answer the question shows you know the temperature record has been distorted and since it has, its not even reliable.
