Elroy,
While that topic may be interesting, it is somewhat academic. We, on this thread, don't have access to those muslim leaders, therefore we just have to deal with the reality of how we see the muslim community act and react to the things we are talking about.

When we hear about the Dutch Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh being killed by muslims for making a movie that was critical of the way women are treated under Islam and then we hear nothing but crickets from the muslim community, that comes across as silent, but tacit support for the action.

Perhaps the muslims in the philippines are more vocal in their outrage at these events. That being the case, could you provide a link to an article where the philippine muslims have expressed their outrage at these type of events?

All political correctness aside, this isn't an academic exercise to those of us here discussing the topic. We are seeing real attempts by the muslim community to have sharia law influence our legal system here in the states.

Logically, if our understanding is accurate, a Muslim leader would eagerly defend it, not deny it.

I don't see that as logical at all. Why publicly support something that can be used against you when you can keep quiet on the topic in public and then go about doing whatever you want when the cameras are turned off?

Pakistani governor killed by own bodyguard

ISLAMABAD – The governor of Pakistan's wealthiest and most populated province was shot dead Tuesday by one of his bodyguards who told interrogators he was angry over the politician's opposition to laws that impose the death penalty for those convicted of insulting Islam.

They may not be willing to go on record for supporting the death penalty for insulting islam, but they'll kill in support of it.
