In the past few minutes, I've written and deleted four or five cynical and snide remarks about the massive debt and budget deficits facing Illinois and scores of other states, but what's the point?

The tired old status quo and the ruination of America is beyond the pale, beyond all reason, and beyond all cynicism. The game has been over for a long time.
