No need to 'avoid'. The answer is that the premise of your question is incorrect. (Is not 'the only President', yadda, yadda.)

Fact is that MOST President's have sought to manufacture more public-pleasing pre-stories, and sought to control access to all sorts of information about earlier lives.

Hard to think of any who haven't, (but most especially in the modern era).
