Looks like Obama is already seizing the initiative for the 2012 campaign from the Republicans. If he keeps this up, then he will succeed in proving to the American public that all that the Repubs are interested in is not to govern but to take back power.

Obama to GOP Leaders: 'Plenty of Time' for Campaign Politics -- Next Year
8 hours ago

His holiday vacation in Hawaii behind him, President Obama is getting back to business Tuesday, expressing hope that Republican leaders "realize that there will be plenty of time to campaign for 2012, in 2012."

Aboard Air Force One on the return trip from Oahu, the president said he expected some political maneuvering after the new Congress convenes Wednesday with a Republican majority in the House and a narrower Democratic edge in the Senate.

"They are going to play to their [political] base for a while," he told the press pool. "But I'm pretty confident that they're going to recognize that our job is to govern and make sure that we are delivering jobs for the American people and that we are creating a competitive economy for the 21st century."

The president said his "expectation -- my hope" -- is that incoming House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell "will realize that there will be plenty of time to campaign for 2012, in 2012 -- and that our job this year is to make sure that we build on recovery. We started making good progress on that in the lame-duck [session of Congress], and I expect to build on that progress when I get back."

Obama was heartened by a string of important bills passed by the House and Senate last month after he reached a bipartisan compromise with Boehner and McConnell to continue Bush-era tax cuts to all taxpayers and also extending unemployment benefits.

The news media saw little of the president during his vacation stay at a seaside rental home in Kailua. But he did surface occasionally and he and his family wound up their holiday Monday with a stop at Island Snow shaved ice. "I am a plain shaved ice guy. No beans, no ice cream, no sweet milk on top," he later told inquiring reporters.

Florida City to Turn Toilet Water Into Drinking Water

We irrigate with reclaimed. There is a story that one of the local town utilities screwed up and switched the reclaimed line with the regular water line for several months. I think it's urban legend.
