Frank,

Nice to hear from you again!

Accordingly to your listed requirements, I would suggest the Cyrix MediaGX base Compaq Presario 2200 $799 and add the memory to 32MB or 48MB.

The current Presario uses 180Mhz MediaGX. If your daughter could hold the purchase one or two months, they might get the new 200Mhz MediaGXm with MMX at the same price.

They better buy the Presario here and take it to Jakata. It would cost much higher for the import staff in Indonesia.

Fuchi ... who loves Cyrix's innovations

Frank P.

My configuration is as follows:

Go to your LOCAL box builder. These guys need your support.

Get a 6x86PR200+ box built.. you can specify almost ANY equipment and come in under $1200US..

Modem (if you are interested in specifics) either ACER 56KFlex or MOT KFlex modem (kflex is going to win the standards battle, not x2)

video card, something from S3 or something cheap from C(irrus)L(ogic).. if they aren't hardcore users they won't notice the difference.

Hard drive: For a budget, only one choice.. FUJITSU!

RAM: 32MB minimum.. the way prices are falling you may want to opt for 64 is you can afford it.

everything else: optional (although I would recommend MS Natural keyboard)

Steve
