HerbVic, I don't disagree with much of what you say. And on the
general consumer front, I agree about $1K boxes being important.
But I also know that for the professional mid-level user, the
price point remains at about $2K for the box. Why? Because today
those users all demand a $1-2K monitor, and they will always "spend
up" for the power until the computer is dominating costs over the
monitor. That is definitely the case here, where 20" monitors are
now becoming the norm. This is more so for Mac clientelle than
Wintel, I think, because of the greater graphics orientation in
the Mac market, where the screen real estate has some priority.

OFF TOPIC BUT ON MAC OS's:

Has anyone tried out BE's new release of their operating system?

Can you compare it to OS8?

Also interested in finding out just how good COS's operating system is, if it is for real.
