"Morality's fabric is amazingly elastic."

I agree absolutely... :-)

I think perhaps there are two absolutes: to be or not to be that is the...uh...

Everything in being requires judgment. That judgment is never perfect. Because perfect does not exist. And the value of a judgment and an action are ALWAYS subjective and relative to the person evaluating the action or answering the question. THAT is beyond any dispute. So the same event can (and usually is) evaluated in myriad different ways.

Fortunately, the objective world outside of our feelings where a fall is a fall and a burn is a burn can be evaluated by rational people with a fairly strong agreement. But morality is not about what IS. Morality is about how we feel/think about what IS. Morality is simply an opinion which basically answers the question: Do you like this or do you not??

Fortunately, most thinking people like similar things such as certain freedoms and laws and conventions of living because reason is the best way of dealing with and evaluating what is REAL--and fire does burn and falls do hurt. And ALL "morality" is based on individual and group opinion on what burns and hurts and what doesn't...

Your lab will burn down if you do certain things. That is objective. Some will buy your reason for burning it and some won't. If you do it for god it is probably ok. That would be a very good thing. Anything that helps god is good (isn't it!?)--so you don't need to give me no money. :-)
